Photovoltaic solar energy communities the future?

What is a community solar?

A group of residential and/or commercial users are integrated to achieve the financing of renewable energy projects in general.
Because of their ease, they are generally realized with photovoltaic solar energy.
The concept can be so advanced that a utility company can be created.

One of the main advantages of community solar PV, in addition to financing, lies in the fact that between 50 and 75 percent of potential solar consumers are unable to place solar panels on their own roof, community solar is the mechanism that allows those consumers to access solar energy. With (SEPA) forecasts that community solar could account for 30 percent of all distributed generation solar electricity by 2020. Clearly, the potential for a solar-boom Community market is there.

Requires favorable regulation

As always there is a major drawback in the regulation and government policies to encourage the development of community solar energy.
In other words, projects exist almost everywhere, let’s hope that countries like Colombia, Peru and Brazil will allow to adjust the regulation so that this type of projects can be developed with ease.

To truly capture the potential of community solar, it is incumbent upon us in the solar energy industry to educate policymakers at all levels, local, state and regional, about the advantages of community solar. Because once the right policies are implemented across the country, community solar projects will spread the Solar Revolution to more people and cement it as the electricity production method of the future.

ADVANTAGES OF PHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY

  • It is a type ofrenewable, inexhaustible and non-polluting energy , and therefore contributes to sustainable development.
  •  It is a system particularlysuitable for rural or isolated areas where the power line does not reach or is difficult or costly to install, or for geographical areas where the climate allows many hours of sunshine per year.
  • It is modular, so you can build anything from huge ground-mounted PV plants to small rooftop panels.

In line with its commitment to the fight against climate change , Corporación Efinetico is committed to implementing sustainable development projects in companies and regions that have a high environmental impact.

More facts about photovoltaic solar energy

Solar energy will become the cheapest source of electricity in many parts of the world in the next ten years, against a backdrop of a continued fall in the cost of solar photovoltaic panels, says International Business Time, echoing research by German think tank Agora Energiewende.

Since the 1980s, panels for generating electricity from the sun have been getting 10% cheaper every year. A trend that would enable this technology to meet 20% of global energy needs by 2027.

Fortune, a reputable business magazine, reports a study that claims that by the end of 2016 solar energy will offer more new jobs than the oil sector. In the US, says The Solar Foundation, 2015 marked the third consecutive year of job growth in the solar energy sector.

The global PV market should increase by around 20% over the next two years, adding at least 60 GW in 2016 and more than 70 GW in 2017, according to a study by the PV Market Alliance (PVMA). This same organization anticipates that demand will remain bullish, mainly as a result of strong growth in India, China, the United States and several emerging markets.

In fact, according to PVMA – data grouped on the energies-renewables website – the integration of 51,000 MW led to a new record for installed PV power in the world in 2015, with Asia being the leading continent in PV installation that year (thanks to the commitment of China and Japan).
